The owners of this garden in Tuffnel Park, North London, wanted to convert an unloved and overlooked space into one that could be used for both entertaining and relaxing. To achieve this two seating areas were created- a dining area next to the house, the other at the far end in a sunken, decked area reached only by crossing a running water rill.
The sharp and contemporary design is softened by rows of black Phylostachys bamboos and prarie style herbaceous planting, all uplit at night with dramatic effect.
