This Garden is being created this summer in a sunny courtyard of a large house in Surrey. Currently an unsightly tarmacked area but with much potential, the client wanted to bring the garden closer to the house, and create a sitting and dining area for the whole family to enjoy.
A large circular pond links the elevated part of the garden with the lower area, which will be terraced and planted with water- loving marginals. The circular theme continues with the sitting/dining area, with an urn acting as a focal point directly outside the french windows, both of which are framed by a clipped box hedge. The paved area consists of a warm Sandstone, outlined by terracotta brick.
The planting has a Mediterranean feel to it thanks to the sheltered and mostly sunny position, as well as a mix of acid loving planting due to the largely sandy and acidic soil that is characteristic of the area.
