Channel 4 Garden

In May 2006 the London Garden Design Company took part in the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in building a 'chic' show garden entitled Less is Moor. Please click on the above image to see more of the award winning design.

This garden is being built this Spring as part of Channel 4's forthcoming series 'The Great Gardening Challenge' in which a 25 square metre show garden has to be built by two people in front of the camera in just two days and then judged by the Great British Public.

The garden has been designed by Simon Thomas from the London Garden Design Company and is being built by Simon and his friend Robert Berman- not himself a horticulturalist, but offering valuable assistance, enthusiasm and not to mention muscle!

The 'Glass Sculpture Garden' is simple but dramatic with a central circular bed consisting of blown glass sculptures mimicking the Alliums that surround them. The hard landscaping is kept to a minimum with simple circular blue slate paving, which in turn is surrounded by a clipped box hedge, framing the inner section of the garden.

The remaining area is richly planted with Silver Birch, Phormiums, Ornamental Grasses, Lavenders, Broom and other Mediterranean planting , relying on scale, texture and form to create the backdrop to the garden.

Watch this space for an update on how they got on!
